Students will assess the impact of European Enlightenment, Emancipation, and the “Jewish Question” on Zionism, as well as the geopolitical shifts in the Middle East from Ottoman rule to the present day.

Students will study the key events leading to Israel’s establishment in 1948, including the Balfour Declaration, British Mandate, UN Partition Plan, and Arab-Israeli wars that shaped the nation’s borders and security concerns.

Students will learn how to utilize historical maps, archaeological findings, and demographic studies to understand the Jewish people's 3,000-year geographic presence and sovereignty sovereignty in Israel.
